Job Summary
Holy Cross Hospital Davis runs two Emergency Departments. The main department is 21-beds in Layton City as part of the hospital. It is a Level 3 Trauma center a Primary Stroke center and a Chest Pain center with an average volume of over 2000 patients per month. The other is a stand-alone Emergency Department in Roy City that has 14 beds and sees an average volume of over 28 patients each day. Team members in these departments are courageous motivated and have a keen interest in emergency medicine. With a variety of patients this team treats anything and everything from traumas heart attacks septic and psychiatric patients to sore throats earaches lacerations and ingrown toenails. The ED is a fast paced and intense environment that fosters a culture of teamwork and comradery. Prioritizing multi-tasking critical thinking and assisting others are extremely important. This department is a great place to learn and become proficient in multiple nursing skills. Training is intense and never-ending. A strong knowledge of all disease and injury physiology and processes is extremely important. You will work alongside board certified emergency physicians and highly skilled PAs and NPs. As our RN you will assume responsibility for facilitating communicating and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical emotional and spiritual needs of the patient advancing modern nursing through compassionate care.

To be successful in this role you will be a Registered Nurse with a commitment to compassionate high-quality patient care strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to apply the nursing process effectively within a supportive mission-driven environment.
- Assess patients physical psychosocial cultural and spiritual needs through observation interview review of medical records & clinical data.
- Evaluates patients response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
- Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including but not limited to IVs incision/wound care medication administration catheterization and specimen collections.
- Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
- Document ongoing status interventions patient response and outcomes in an accurate timely manner.
- Use information technology to communicate manage knowledge mitigate error and support decision-making.
- Promote advocate and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness needs and ability.
- Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.
- Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
- RN License in state of employment
- Physical Requirements: Medium Work exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10lbs. constantly
Preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- One (1) year experience
