Job Summary (Cath Lab RN):
- Provide nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.
- Perform and assist with a variety of procedures including diagnostic cardiac catheterizations (adult) right and left heart catheterizations pacemaker/defibrillator insertion and lead extraction and electrophysiology studies.
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation and emergency medications; manage antiarrhythmics antihypertensives thrombolytics and reversal agents as needed.
- Perform exercise and pharmacological stress tests tilt table studies and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
- Scrub and circulate during cath lab and EP lab procedures; ensure proper sterile technique and infection prevention practices.
- Monitor patients vital signs hemodynamic parameters and ECG/EKG during procedures; obtain baseline measurements and 12-lead EKG/ECG.
- Assist with sheath placement removal and monitoring; perform intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) placement/removal as necessary.
- Ensure use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to isolation precautions and radiation/laser safety protocols.
- Respond to emergencies including performing cardioversion and supporting code situations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and procedural activities.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to provide high-quality patient care in the cath lab setting.
- Must have current ACLS certification and a minimum of 2 years experience in a cardiac cath lab or EP lab setting.
- Required Time Off (RTO) must be submitted upfront.
