School Nurse (RN BSN)

JobSummary:

TheRegistered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing and health-related services within a center-based special education school. As part of a collaborative nursing and multidisciplinary team the nurse ensures student medical needs are safely and effectively met through implementation of individualized health care plans medication administration ongoing health monitoring this role the nurse supports student health safety and access to educational programming throughout the school day by responding to a wide range of medical needs providing direct care and coordinating closely with special education staff therapists and administrators to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student participation and well-being.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement andmonitorstudent Individualized Health Care Plans(IHCP)
  • Administer medications and perform nursing proceduresin accordance withstate regulations and district policies
  • Monitor assess and documentstudent health status and communicate changes toappropriate staffand families as
  • Support activities of daily living (ADLs) which may include feeding toileting hygiene positioning and mobility
  • Respond to medical emergencies and implement emergency care plans as needed
  • Collaborate with teachers therapists administrators and support staff to promote student safety and participation
  • Maintainaccuratehealth records and ensure compliance with FERPA HIPAA and district policies
  • Provide guidance and support to school staffregardingstudentmedical needs
  • Maintain a safe clean and supportive environment including proper use of medical and protective equipment
  • At timesmayaccompanystudentsduring transportation to and from the program including riding the school bus if requiredto provide medical monitoring support and ensurestudent health and safety during transit.
  • At timesmaybeto support student needs and provide staff training tootherprograms within the ISD.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Valid state nursing license in good standing
  • Experience working with children with special needs and/or medically fragile students preferred
  • BLS/CPRcertificationpreferred(or ability to obtain upon hire)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift transfer and position students with or withoutmechanicalassistance(typically up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to stand walk bend kneel and sit for extended periods
  • Ability to perform nursing tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina

CompensationandDetails:

  • Compensation: $68800-$86000commensuratewith experience
  • Schedule: Full-TimeFullYear190daysper year.
