Based primarily at the Chicago US office and traveling as needed to perform duties the Health & Safety (HSE) Manager will be responsible for ensuring end-to-end compliance with health safety and environmental regulations as well as company policies and procedures across all Dyson locations within the Americas. You will support our leaders and business partners by acting as the subject matter expert for all HSE related matters. You will partner regularly and proactively with the network of Global Dyson Safety professionals to deliver localized requirements in adherence to globalized policies and procedures. The main duties of the role are defined below but there is an overriding expectation that as an HSE professional you will undertake any related tasks as outlined by your manager and HSE Leadership to ensure the safety and compliance of our spaces.
This role supports a diverse portfolio of locations across multiple countries including corporate offices retail stores refurbishment centers repair facilities distribution and logistics operations. Key accountabilities for this role are risk identification regulatory compliance incident management training program development & execution site & process audits emergency preparedness planning and related continuous improvement initiatives. To achieve these objectives the HSE Manager must partner closely with business leaders facilities teams HR operations retail leadership and employees to ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations while fostering a proactive culture of safety and well-being.
Key Accountabilities
Health & Safety Program Management
Develop implement and maintain health and safety policies standards procedures and programs relevant to your portfolio of workspaces supporting as necessary our global workplace policy creation adaptation and enhancement processes.
Ensure alignment of EHS programs with business objectives while meeting regulatory requirements in identified countries.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance and drive continuous improvement. Be ready and able to report these KPIs at a standard business and board level at all times.
Lead annual safety strategy planning and execution across all facility types.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable federal state/provincial and local occupational health and safety regulations.
Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory requirements and communicate impacts to business leaders. Be proactive in socializing forthcoming regulatory changes and prepare proactive plans to guide the business successfully through these changes.
Coordinate inspections audits and interactions with regulatory agencies as needed partnering with local and global team members to ensure all necessary access and information is available at the time of inspection.
Manage required permits records documentation and compliance reporting.
Incident Management
Lead investigations of workplace related injuries illnesses near misses and other employee-centric incidents. Be a collaborative team member for all relevant country level Incident Management Teams supporting and leading on necessary root cause investigations testing lab reports and critical findings documentation.
Maintain incident reporting systems and manage all regulatory reporting requirements.
Analyze trends and proactively identify opportunities to reduce risk and prevent recurrence across the business partnering with the necessary functions to enable and drive reasonable proposals in line with business risk acceptance protocols.
Safety Audits and Inspections
Partner with the key functions accountable for Safety (Facilities HR Legal Security Business Leadership) to execute comprehensive cross functional audit and inspection programs. Work with key department leaders to propose efficiencies to the audit and inspections processes to enable the business to operate safely within acceptable risk tolerances.
Conduct site visits to assess compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
Partner with site leaders to address findings and track corrective actions to closure.
Support external audits and certification programs as required.
Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity
Design and maintain emergency response procedures for all facility types.
Coordinate emergency action plans evacuation programs crisis response protocols and business continuity planning (BCP) in line with the other functions accountable for Safety minimizing redundancy and ensuring cross-functional synergies throughout.
Lead emergency drills and preparedness exercises.
Training and Safety Culture
Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees contractors and relevant vendor partners.
Support onboarding and ongoing safety education initiatives.
Promote employee engagement through safety committees awareness campaigns and recognition programs.
Foster a culture where safety is integrated into daily operations and decision-making.
Contractor and Vendor Safety
Establish contractor safety requirements and qualification processes.
Ensure third-party providers comply with company safety standards.
Support safe execution of construction renovation maintenance and facilities projects during all phases of design build and handover to Operations.
Occupational Health
Lead site operational programs including but not limited to identifying actual or potential physical ergonomic chemical electrical and operational hazards recommending and implementing corrective actions.
Support occupational health initiatives wellness programs and injury prevention strategies.
Coordinate with occupational health providers and workers compensation programs when necessary.
Leadership Collaboration and Business Partnership
Be the first point of contact for the sites and functions within your portfolio to ensure all HSE matters are actioned in a timely and business conducive manner
Partner with key stakeholders to develop close working relationships provide HSE advice to integrate HSE activities into ways of working and enable continual improvement in HSE performance through collaborating and actively seeking feedback from partners and end users.
Provide regular updates and performance reports to senior leadership.
Support integration of safety requirements in new locations acquisitions and operational changes.
Develop processes for remote management of the HSE needs for Dysons portfolio of sites. Generate business cases backed by clear strategy and risk awareness to secure budget for business-critical travel as needed.
5-8 years of progressive health and safety experience in a multi-site commercial business environment.
Experience supporting multiple facility types such as offices retail locations repair facilities manufacturing refurbishment logistics or service operations.
Experience managing health and safety programs across multiple countries preferred.
Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations audits and risk assessments.
Preferred competency: Spanish language

Safety management systems and ISO 45001 principles.
