Job Summary
Summary:
National Heritage Academies (NHA) partner schools seek to grow and empower our teachers by providing ample opportunities to learn together and from each other. A few of the ways we do this include Regional Professional Learning events that embed instructional growth with networking opportunities and monthly virtual EL specific professional learning sessions. Each EL Teacher meets regularly with the Dean of EL Program Services to receive coaching and development. Each school is supported by a dedicated EL Curriculum Specialist to provide targeted EL instructional coaching.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and delivers lessons to promote students English language development.
Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of EL/MLs across content areas through the Sheltered Instruction and the English Language Development program models.
Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor language progress and ensure student achievement.
Completes documentation required for compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Completes daily logs of student services.
Attends regular Professional Development offerings.
Be available for afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences and school events.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates for English Language (EL) Teacher positions should preferably hold a Professional Supplemental or RE License type with a PK-12 TESOL endorsement. Minimally candidates for this position must hold a license type listed above and obtain a PK-12 TESOL Endorsement within 2 years.
Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory second language learning patterns and best practices in English language development.
Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.
Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for multilingual families within the school.
Read analyze and interpret student academic data.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers administration and families.
