Job Summary
The Central Office Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for the Adair County School District Board of Education. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming professional environment by greeting visitors answering and directing a multi-line telephone system and providing accurate information to students parents staff and community members. The receptionist supports the daily operations of the Central Office by performing a variety of clerical and customer service duties while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Answer and manage a multi-line telephone system in a courteous timely and professional manner.
- Greet visitors parents students employees and community members entering the Central Office.
- Determine the nature of visitors inquiries and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member.
- Provide general information regarding district programs departments policies and services.
- Assist visitors in locating forms applications and other district resources.
- Receive sort and distribute incoming mail and deliveries.
- Maintain the reception area to ensure a clean organized and welcoming environment.
- Monitor visitor sign-in procedures and assist with district security protocols.
- Schedule appointments or meeting room reservations as assigned.
- Perform routine clerical duties including filing copying scanning data entry and preparing correspondence.
- Assist Central Office administrators and departmental staff with administrative tasks as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of student personnel and district information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
- Operate standard office equipment including computers copiers scanners fax machines and postage equipment.
- Respond to questions and resolve routine concerns while providing excellent customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designated supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous receptionist administrative assistant or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system efficiently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general office technology.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced office environment.
