Real Estate Counsel

About the Role:

A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Counsel to join its growing Real Estate Department in New York. This opportunity is ideal for a senior attorney with extensive experience advising clients on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions across a variety of asset classes including office retail mixed-use and other complex property investments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in structuring negotiating and closing high-value real estate transactions while serving as a trusted advisor to developers investors owners lenders and institutional clients. This position offers substantial client interaction significant responsibility and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex matters within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

Working alongside highly regarded real estate attorneys you will have the opportunity to lead transactions deepen client relationships contribute to business development initiatives and further establish yourself as a key member of a sophisticated real estate practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions across multiple asset classes.
  • Structure negotiate and close acquisitions dispositions developments leasing financing and investment transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate purchase agreements joint venture agreements leases financing documents and related transaction documents.
  • Manage transactions from initial negotiations through closing.
  • Provide strategic legal and business advice to developers investors owners lenders and institutional clients.
  • Coordinate with internal practice groups and external stakeholders to facilitate successful transactions.
  • Identify and address legal business and transactional risks.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on active matters.
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • 8 years of commercial real estate transactional experience.
  • Significant experience negotiating and closing sophisticated real estate transactions.
  • Strong background advising clients across multiple asset classes including office retail and mixed-use properties.
  • Excellent drafting negotiation analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong business judgment and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to independently manage complex matters and client relationships.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
