Reading Interventionist

Job Summary
The Reading Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted reading instruction and intervention to students who require additional academic support in literacy. The Reading Interventionist works collaboratively with teachers administrators and support staff to implement the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework monitor student progress and accelerate reading achievement for all learners. This position plays a critical role in closing achievement gaps increasing student growth and ensuring scholars achieve grade-level proficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Intervention and Support
- Provide evidence-based reading interventions for students identified through MTSS benchmark assessments and classroom performance data.
- Deliver Tier II and Tier III interventions in small-group and individual settings.
- Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to student needs.
- Support struggling readers in foundational literacy skills fluency vocabulary comprehension and writing.
- Monitor intervention effectiveness and adjust instruction based on student progress.
MTSS Implementation
- Serve as a key member of the campus MTSS team.
- Assist in identifying students requiring academic interventions through data analysis and teacher referrals.
- Participate in MTSS meetings and contribute to intervention planning and problem-solving discussions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of interventions progress-monitoring data and student outcomes.
- Ensure intervention services are implemented with fidelity.
Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring
- Analyze assessment data including universal screeners classroom assessments and state assessment results.
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and communicate results to teachers parents and administrators.
- Utilize data to identify trends monitor student growth and make instructional decisions.
- Support campus goals related to reading achievement and student growth.
Teacher Support and Collaboration
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with grade-level instruction and TEKS.
- Provide instructional strategies and resources to support literacy development in the classroom.
- Assist teachers in interpreting student data and identifying appropriate interventions.
- Model effective reading instructional practices and intervention strategies.
Campus Leadership
- Support campus literacy initiatives and school improvement goals.
- Participate in professional learning communities data meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with campus-wide reading programs assessments and intervention scheduling.
- Foster a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate required.
- Reading Specialist certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Experience implementing reading interventions and MTSS processes preferred.
- Strong knowledge of literacy development assessment and intervention practices.
