Office of Workforce Development

The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) administers several federal workforce programs and oversees a network of local OhioMeansJobs centers which provide free job training and other services for Ohioans looking for work and employers seeking workers. OWD also assists job seekers through an online job matching system that brings both employers and job seekers to one easy-to-use website. What You Will Do:

  • Assist employers and their potentially affected workers who experience layoffs and closures (reactive services) or need services to avert layoffs and closures (proactive services)

  • The expectation is that you will build successful partnerships and work collaboratively with the local partners (county staff) or your assigned counties/local workforce areas as well as employers in those areas

  • Each Account Executive will cover approximately 15-25 counties in a geographical area. You may serve as backup to your peers in other geographical areas as needed

  • Research layoffs and closures

  • Outreach to employers

  • Establish rapport and nurture on-going relationships with partners and impacted employers

  • Attend local partner meetings

  • Organize and lead initial employer meetings where you promote Rapid Response services to impacted employers

  • Present the standardized Rapid Response PowerPoint Presentation to dislocated workers at Rapid Response Reemployment Sessions both in person or virtually (as requested)

  • Assist with resume and interviewing workshops job fairs and hiring events as needed

  • Follow the Rapid Response Delivery Process

  • Case management and data entry

  • Other duties as assigned

Schedule: Full-time

Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Travel:

  • Travel is required for this position
  • You will need to provide your own transportation to provide services to employers in your coverage area (and sometimes outside of your normal coverage area)
  • Mileage is reimbursable. On occasion you may be asked to assist with other projects/duties inside or outside of your normal reporting locations
  • Overnight travel may be required

PN(s):

The ideal candidate at minimum must have the following:

Option 1:

  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. state & federal regulations governing implemented training &/or employment programs;

AND

  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. public relations;

AND

  • 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. labor market data & employment trends;

AND

  • 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. operation of computer terminal &/or personal computer;

AND

  • Must provide own transportation

Option 2:

  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohios Pay Range 31. Unless required by legislation or union contract starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range step 1 $28.76per hour. These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
