Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Mammography Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic mammography procedures including biopsies to assist in the detection and diagnosis of breast diseases. This role requires familiarity with Hologic mammography equipment and the ability to provide high-quality imaging services. The technician will float between radiology and cardiology units ensuring accurate patient assessments and imaging in a short-term acute care environment. Strong technical skills and attention to detail are essential to support patient care and diagnostic accuracy.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform mammography imaging procedures using Hologic equipment.
  • Assist with breast biopsies as required ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Float between radiology and cardiology units to provide imaging services.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and preparation for procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and record-keeping in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare team members to optimize diagnostic outcomes.
  • Adhere to infection control and radiation safety standards.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment as needed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Certification as a Mammography Technologist.
  • Proficiency with Hologic mammography equipment.
  • Experience performing mammography and breast biopsy procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and imaging protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Previous biopsy experience.
  • Additional imaging certifications or training.
  • Experience working in both radiology and cardiology settings.
Special Considerations:
  • No on-call or weekend work required.
  • Position does not require block scheduling.
  • Expected patient ratio is 1:1 during procedures.
Scheduling:
  • 20-hour work week.
  • Day shifts with floating between units as needed.
