Quality Technician (2nd Shift)

Job Summary
As a Quality Technician (2nd Shift) you will perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of in-process batches raw materials and finished products for such purposes as quality control process control or product development.
You will report to the Quality Supervisor III and will be onsite at the Oak Creek WI plant. PPG offers excellent Medical Dental & Vision Benefits; matching 401k retirement savings; and Paid Vacation Holiday pay.
Hours for 2nd shift: Monday-Friday start time between 2PM to 4PM working an 8.5-hour shift
Responsibilities:
- Verify formula and component specifications on batch tickets.
- Set up adjust calibrate and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such paint guns mixers viscometers chemical balances pH meters gloss meters solids analyzer spectrophotometer and other equipment.
- Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
- Record test results on batch tickets and in companys computer operating system.
- Organize and maintain quality records and retains of production batches.
- Evaluate retains of production batches in response to quality complaints.
- Conduct in-coming raw materials testing ensuring conformance to required specifications.
- Perform routine production quality checks to ensure finished products are filled and packaged according to specifications.
- Performs occasional quality audits of laboratory and production work instructions to ensure compliance to the companys Quality Policy.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
- Inspection test and product evaluation experience
- General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
- Ability to clearly identify and communicate issues that need to be addressed and to take the necessary steps to avoid future errors.
