Position Overview

The Quality Control Intern works alongside the Quality team to support testing and quality control activities that help ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position provides hands-on experience with material sampling laboratory preparation testing procedures quality control equipment and documentation within the construction materials industry. The intern will work closely with experienced technical professionals while developing practical knowledge of quality control processes and contributing to accurate and reliable product testing.


What Youll Do

  • Learn and apply established quality control testing methods procedures and equipment under the guidance of technical staff.
  • Assist with collecting material samples from various stages of production for quality testing.
  • Prepare material samples in the laboratory according to established testing procedures.
  • Perform laboratory tests under the guidance of Quality team members.
  • Accurately document test results and assist with maintaining laboratory and quality control records.
  • Assist with maintaining inspecting and calibrating quality control equipment to support accurate and reliable testing.
  • Learn how test results are used to evaluate product quality and conformance with established specifications.
  • Assist the Quality team with testing projects and other quality control activities as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with Quality Operations and other plant personnel to support product quality and testing needs.
  • Maintain laboratory work areas and equipment in a safe clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all Company and plant safety policies rules and procedures as well as applicable MSHA regulations.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel Word and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow testing procedures and document results.
  • Strong organizational planning and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with Quality Operations and other team members.
  • Ability to manage assigned responsibilities and complete work with appropriate independence and accountability.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new testing methods equipment and quality control processes.


Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Materials Science Concrete Industry Management or a related scientific technical or engineering field.
  • Previous laboratory quality control construction materials manufacturing or industrial experience is helpful but not required.
  • Previous coursework or experience involving material testing or laboratory procedures is preferred but not required.


Other Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude with an interest in laboratory and material testing equipment.
  • Interest in quality control materials science concrete aggregates or the construction materials industry.
  • Ability and willingness to work in laboratory production and field environments as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely around active production operations.
  • Commitment to following all Company safety policies procedures and applicable MSHA regulations.
