Role Overview
The QA/QC Project Superintendent is the field authority for quality execution. This role leads QA/QC planning and implementation on projects ensuring installations meet design intent specifications codes and company standards. The Superintendent coordinates all field quality activities drives commissioning readiness mentors the QA/QC team and holds authority to stop work when quality standards are not met.
Core Responsibilities
Lead development and implementation of project-specific QA/QC plans aligned with contract requirements company standards and client expectations.
Perform comprehensive review of project drawings specifications submittals and commissioning requirements to identify quality risks and constructability concerns early.
Serve as the primary quality liaison between project management field leadership owners general contractors engineers TAB and commissioning agents.
Develop detailed inspection and testing plans (ITPs) and coordinate all required inspections testing startup and commissioning activities.
Oversee and validate mechanical and plumbing system installations to ensure compliance with specifications codes and best practices.
Lead internal quality planning meetings and participate in preconstruction coordination and turnover meetings.
Manage and audit all QA/QC documentation including inspection reports test reports redlines as-builts turnover packages and warranty documentation.
Monitor quality performance metrics and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on compliance deficiencies and corrective actions.
Identify quality trends recurring issues and root causes and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
Conduct jobsite quality audits and collaborate with superintendents and foremen to drive continuous improvement in field execution.
Coordinate closely with Testing Adjusting and Balancing (TAB) and commissioning teams to ensure successful system startup and functional performance verification.
Support project closeout by ensuring complete and accurate turnover documentation O&M manuals and owner training materials.
Mentor junior QA/QC team members and provide guidance to project staff on quality processes and standards.
Exercise stop-work authority when quality standards are not met.
Required Background
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship as sponsorship is not available for this position.
10 years of experience in commercial mechanical or plumbing construction.
7 years of experience leading field crews and supervising multiple trades.
Experience on projects including healthcare medical gas educational institutional military and industrial facilities preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems installation sequencing and construction methods.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints specifications and schedules.
Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook).
Experience coordinating TAB startup and commissioning preferred.
5 years managing startup and commissioning of projects $40M preferred.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
