Job Summary
Location: San Diego CAMust reside in or within close proximity to the designated region. This is a remote role with on-call responsibilities and occasional travel required estimated at less than 20%.Job Summary:This role directly serves as a critical bridge between autonomous vehicle (AV) operations and the municipal emergency management community. Success in this position strengthens partnerships enhances public safety outcomes and reduces risk during emergency and event interactions. As a Public Safety Liaison you will be responsible for fostering trust and collaboration between corporations emergency management and public safety agencies. This role will require both proactive and reactive functions to ensure effective engagement training and emergency management. An effective Public Safety Liaison will enhance preparedness and improve coordination across multiple organizations including local emergency management traffic management authorities and airports. During disasters or very large special events the role will work directly with the local jurisdictions emergency management to facilitate information exchange operational decon coordination resource coordination and public messaging Responsibilities:Participate in classroom field-based and virtual training sessions on emergency preparedness incident response crisis management and recovery operations as it relates to autonomously driven drills tabletop exercises and full-scale simulations to assess readiness and identify improvement as a subject matter expert in emergency management practices policies and with cross-functional teams to integrate emergency preparedness into organizational operationsMaintain compliance with local state and federal emergency management regulations and real-world incident response when required providing guidance and coordination as public safety agencies on how emerging transportation technologies operate how they respond during emergency situations and the best practices for safe and effective closely with municipal public safety officials to ensure the safe introduction of emerging transportation trust enhance safety and foster a technical understanding of new transportation technologies to support incident response and provide clear concise information to emergency management Qualifications:FEMA Independent Study Incident Command System 100; Introduction to the Incident Command SystemFEMA Independent Study Incident Command System 200; Basic Incident Command System for Initial ResponseFEMA Incident Command System 300; Intermediate ICS for Expanding IncidentsFEMA 700; An Introduction to the National Incident Management System5 years of experience in emergency management public safety or disaster to define build and maintain a broad network of working relationshipsExisting networks and contacts in public safety agencies beyond Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS community facing organizations and state and local government presentation communication and facilitation with risk assessment hazard mitigation planning and continuity of operations (COOP)Experience with EOC exercises (tabletop functional full-scale)Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
