Public Safety Crime Analyst

The District Attorneys Office isseekinga detail-oriented analytically strong Crime Analyst with a primary focus on analyzing internal data along with external data sources (Oregon Criminal Justice Commission NIBRS UCR etc.). The Crime Analyst will work with external public safety partners and other criminal justice agencies collecting relevant data.

This role centers on collecting standardizing evaluating and interpreting data originating from outside the DAsOfficeincluding police agencies state and federal systems public safety partners specialty courts community corrections data and other justice-related external datasets. The Crime Analyst will use external data along with internal data to develop products and geospatial mapping for presentation to community members and public safety partners.

Key Responsibilities
External Crime & Public Safety Data Analysis
Collect standardize clean andmaintaina data warehouse for external data sources relevant to crime and public safety including police department data OSP crime data WCCCA judicial data community corrections and federal crime datasets.
Identifyand flag impacts to recurring reports caused by changes in external partner reporting practices or statewide crime reporting standards.
Conduct quality checks on externally sourced data before inclusion in DA reports.
Analyze external crime trends toidentifyemerging patterns geographic hotspots and shifts insocioeconomicconditionsandcriminal activity across jurisdictions.

External Data Repository Management
Input external datasets into the DAs central data repository (data warehouse) focusing on standardization cleaning and ongoing maintenance.
Document recurring external data issues or changes in partner data systems.
Develop and apply external data validation procedures to ensure high-quality analytical outputs.

Reporting Visualization & Presentation
Using a variety of data sources toprepare summary reports tables charts maps and timelines tied to external crime trendsandsocioeconomic conditions.
Create handouts and presentation materials for internal teams and external public safety partners.
Use critical thinking and analytical skills to translateinternal andexternal data into compelling visual formats using Microsoft toolsTableau ArcGIS and other graphic design software applications.
Develop andmaintaina system for aiding in data-driven prosecutions of high-frequencyoffenders.

Collaboration with External Public Safety Partners
Work extensively with law enforcement agencies courts community corrections juvenile departments statewide crime reporting programs and otherpartnerson data collectionandstandardization.
Provide technical consultation on external data trends projections and implications for public safety operations.
Prepare technical responses to external information requests including public records inquiries.

• Bachelors Degree in publicor business administration statistics accounting or a related field that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities; AND two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in administrative operations or similar analyses. OR

• Associate Degreein public or business administration statistics accounting or a related field that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities; AND four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in administrative operations or similar analyses. OR

• High School Diploma/GED; AND six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in administrative operations budgetary and similar analyses of which at least two (2) years of this experience is in the public sector for a medium or large governmental unit.
