Public Safety Captain

Job Summary
The Public Safety Captain is responsible for coordinating the administrative and operational functions of an assigned patrol division. The Captain supervises Lieutenants and Sergeants coordinates staffing plans schedules payroll review training activities and special event operations while ensuring department policies and the operational priorities established by the Director of Public Safety are consistently implemented.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in campus public safety security law enforcement military or a closely related field. Demonstrated supervisory leadership communication and report-writing skills. Valid drivers license with the ability to meet University driving standards. Pennsylvania Act 235 certification or the ability to obtain Act 235 certification within six (6) months of appointment. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism during emergency situations. Knowledge of and commitment to the mission and values of the University.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher. Previous experience in a higher education public safety environment. Working knowledge of Clery Act Title IX and VAWA requirements. Previous experience supervising personnel in a 24-hour operation.
