The Psychiatric Provider at a Substance Use Disorder Treatment Facility will deliver comprehensive psychiatric care including assessment diagnosis treatment and management of patients with mental health and addiction disorders. The role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Care:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage medications ensuring proper use and monitoring for side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy or coordinate with other therapeutic services as needed.
- Monitor and document patient progress adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists psychologists social workers nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in case conferences treatment planning meetings and team discussions.
- Communicate effectively with patients families and caregivers offering education and support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
- Ensure all documentation complies with legal and ethical standards for confidentiality and patient care.
- Adhere to all facility policies procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatry and mental health treatment.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Mentor and supervise medical students residents or other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and facility operations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a specialization in psychiatry or
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Licensure:
- Valid state license to practice as an NP PA MD or DO.
- Certification:
- Board certification in Psychiatry for MD/DO or
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for NPs.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a mental health setting preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment and treatment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- The position is based in a substance use disorder treatment facility which may include inpatient outpatient or residential treatment settings.
- The role involves working with diverse patient populations including adults
- Participation in on-call rotations and flexible working hours may be required to meet patient needs.
- Ability to perform tasks such as standing walking and sitting for extended periods.
- Capability to handle high-stress situations and manage emotionally challenging interactions.
