Job Summary

Seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with partial hospital experience to work in our Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program. Will work part-time 48 hours bi-weekly (Three 8 hour days each week).

This position will be responsible for conducting individual group and family therapy in a fast paced Adult Partial Hospitalization Program utilizing DBT and CBT skills.

Job Summary

Provides direct crisis intervention services to the neonate infant child adolescent adult and geriatric populations and their as a psychiatric consultant and educator in the Emergency Department Behavioral Health Unit or Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization with healthcare and community professionals to facilitate comprehensive patient within the limits of the hospital nursing and departmental policies and procedures.

Example of Essential Functions:

  • Accurately and promptly assesses patient and family needs in crisis situations and intervenes appropriately.
  • Facilitates appropriate follow-up care to patients and their families as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates effectiveness of interventions.
  • Assumes role of patient advocate.
  • Utilizes the process and theories of social work education as a basis for the educational development of staff/patients/families and self.
  • Utilizes psychiatric social work expertise and specialization to provide consultation and support services to the Behavioral Health and Emergency Department staff.
  • Serves as resource person within specialty area for professional development.
  • Provides relevant and current in-service education as requested.
  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with referral agencies physicians nursing and social work staff.
  • Communicates effectively with healthcare and community professionals to facilitate comprehensive care.
  • Serves as effective resource for Behavioral Health and other hospital staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for continuing education and developmental needs.
  • Completes 40 CEU credits every two years to maintain licensure in addition to all hospital mandatory education programs.
  • Through the auditing of medical records identifies areas for clinical study and promotes or conducts investigation in these areas as evidenced by QI findings and/or research reports.
  • Utilizes research methods and findings to improve social work practice.

Minimum Education Training and Experience Required:

  • Licensed as LCSW-C or LCPC in the State of Maryland.
  • CPR Certification
  • Five years of psychiatric clinical experience. For this PPHP role prefer 3 years in outpatient setting.

Patient Contact

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

  • XNeonate (0 thru 30 days)
  • XInfant (31 thru 12 months)
  • XChild (13 months thru 12 years)
  • XAdolescent (13 years thru 17 years)
  • XAdult (18 years thru 65 years)
  • XGeriatric (66 years)

Physical Demands:

Medium Work Lifting up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 25 pounds while or pulling up to 75 pounds infrequently or up to 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).

Ergonomic Risk Factors:

Forceful Exertion:The amount of physical effort required to perform a task (such as moving patients) or to maintain control of equipment or amount of force depends on the type of grip the weight of an object or person body posture the type of activity and the duration of the task.

Awkward Posture:Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that are involved in the physical postures include repeated or prolonged reaching twisting bending kneeling squatting working overhead with your hands or arms or holding fixed positions.

Contact Stress:Pressing the body hard on sharp edges can result in placing too much pressure on nerves tendons and blood example using the palm of your hand to hit or stick objects can increase risk of musculoskeletal disorders.

Working Conditions:

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk:Category A WILL have exposure to blood or body fluids.

Pay is based on experience skills and education. If position is part-time salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid if applicable.

Hourly range: $36.63 - $52.65
