Job Summary
Pay rates range from $67.50 - $71.25 per hour based on type of license certification site needs licensure and experience.
As a PsychiatricNurse Practitioner you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide support to the patients within the facility struggling with substance abuse. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex needs.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnosing mental health conditions to facility residents that protects the rights dignity and health of our unique patient population. Additional responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
- Assessing diagnosing and treating patients with psychiatric disorders
- Medication management including prescribing adjusting and discontinuing medication as needed
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records including assessments treatment plans and progress notes
- Responding to psychiatric emergencies providing immediate interventions and safety protocols within the facility
- Coordinate lead and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care
- Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations including court mandates and standards
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including correctional staff psychologists social workers and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensuring staff are responsive to patients needs
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)in NV.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in NV.
- A current DEA registration in NV.
Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations including those with mental health and substance use disorders
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals including other medical professionals and correctional staff
- Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of applicable laws regulations and industry standards
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies procedures and legal requirements
- Must pass the facilitys criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds) bend squat reach push pull walk significant distances and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
