JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Systems Technician II is a mid-level multidisciplinary role within a small highly collaborative government IT team. This individual serves as the operational backbone of the team dedicated to end-user computing network support asset management and IT service operations. The ideal candidate is dependable technically capable and comfortable working closely alongside other system technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Administer Windows Server environments including Active Directory and Group Policy

Manage Cloud Directory via JumpCloud

Configure and support networking infrastructure including Meraki wireless access points and switches

Manage Google Workspace Enterprise system

Provide first-level technical support for hardware software and network issues via phone email or in-person.

Install configure and maintain desktops laptops printers and peripheral devices.

Manage user accounts and access permissions in Active Directory and Microsoft 365.

Troubleshoot connectivity issues and basic network configuration tasks.

Maintain accurate inventory records of IT assets and software licenses.

Assist in the rollout of system updates patches and new software deployments.

Document technical procedures and create user-friendly guides for common IT Tasks.

Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and MacOS operating systems.

Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 applications and basic Active Directory Administration.

Familiarity with Windows components and ability to perform basic repairs or Replacements.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of network infrastructure experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications above also possess three (3) or more of the following:

Associates degree in computer science Information Systems or related field OR Bachelors degree from a nationally accredited University

Five (5) or more years of professional experience administering enterprise Windows.

Three (3) or more years of working knowledge of core infrastructure services (Active Directory DNSDHCP virtualization)

Three (3) or more years of experience and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system and infrastructure issues with limited supervision.

Two (2) or more years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments Active Directory Group Policy Microsoft 365 Google Workspace and/or cloud-based directory platforms such as JumpCloud.

Two (2) or more years of experience troubleshooting and resolving hardware software operating system and network connectivity issues in an enterprise environment including experience supporting Windows and macOS devices and configuring network equipment such as switches and wireless access points. Experience with Merakiis highly desirable.

Demonstrated experience providing technical support to end users while performing at least three of the following: IT asset/inventory management software licensing system updates and patching software deployments user account/access management technical documentation or development of end-user guides.
