Job Summary

The Provider Relations Specialist is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with referring providers and healthcare organizations across the service area. This role promotes Augusta Healths specialists programs and ancillary services while proactively identifying and addressing barriers to referral access care coordination and continuity of care.


Working in close partnership with internal clinical leaders and departmental stakeholders the Provider Relations Specialist supports organizational growth market expansion and strategic business development initiatives. Serving as a key liaison between Augusta Health Medical Group (AMG) non-AMG providers hospitals and community partners this position acts as an extension of Augusta Health within the community.


Approximately 7080% of the role is field-based engaging directly with providers and healthcare organizations to strengthen referral pathways enhance provider engagement and improve access to services. Through these efforts the position directly contributes to increased market share patient access and service utilization.


The Provider Relations Specialist leverages non-HIPAA market intelligence internal referral data and industry trends to prioritize relationship development and identify opportunities for service growth. This role represents Augusta Health its hospital and its clinics by fostering collaborative trust-based relationships throughout the healthcare community.

Education Experience Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in healthcare administration business marketing sales or a related healthcare field required
  • 35 years of experience in provider relations healthcare business development physician liaison or a related role required
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare delivery systems referral processes and provider practice operations
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in various computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop alternate solutions
  • Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and travel within the service area

Essential Job Duties:

  • Build and maintain strong trusted relationships with referring providers service line leaders and community stakeholders in assigned markets
  • Collaborate closely with providers service line leaders marketing and operations teams to align outreach activities with organizational priorities and referral workflows and access strategies
  • Conduct regular outreach practice visits and relationship-building activities to support referral growth and retention
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for provider inquiries related to referrals access services and clinical programs
  • Identify troubleshoot and help resolve challenges related to referrals scheduling access and care coordination in partnership with internal teams
  • Support strategic growth initiatives by identifying referral opportunities service gaps competitive insights and market trends
  • Track provider interactions referral patterns and outreach activities
  • Analyze referral data provider feedback and market intelligence to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Prepare reports and insights to inform leadership and guide strategy
  • Represent the organization professionally in all interactions
