Job Summary
Entry-Level Electrical Design Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Protection & Control Design Engineer to support diverse transmission generation and distribution this role you will work both independently and collaboratively on protection control and physical design projects ranging from greenfield substations to retrofits of existing installations.
Key Responsibilities
- System Protection & Control Design: Develop and ensure quality control for substation system layouts including one-line and three-line diagrams AC/DC schematics wiring diagrams panel layouts and bills of materials.
- Physical Layout & Calculations: Design substation physical layouts including electrical plans profiles grounding systems and conduit/raceway plans. Perform necessary calculations for voltage drop conduit fill and breaker sizing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal and external project teams including senior engineers designers drafters project managers and contractors.
- Project Management Support: Collaborate with team members to meet project specifications budgets and scheduling deadlines.
- Client & Site Relations: Interface directly with clients take leadership of designated project components assist with site evaluations and help define the engineering scope.
Core Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (from an ABET-accredited institution) or a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology.
- Experience: No prior professional experience required.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret relay one-lines three-lines control schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Professional Skills: Strong organization keen attention to detail robust computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
