Proposal Engineer

In this role you will have the opportunity to support the assigned Sales organization and customers during the proposal process for Instrumentation Flow products in the USA. Each day you will serve as a key technical resource in the assigned area. The work model for the role is: Hybrid in Houston TX Bartlesville OK or Baton Rouge LA. Well qualified candidates will be considered for fully remote on the East Coast/Central US. #LI-Hybrid

Your role and responsibilities:

• Ensuring timely and accurate creation of tender documents through coordination with relevant stakeholders.

• Managing all aspects of the bid including technical financial product management and risk reviews; ensure all proposal processes and procedures are followed.

• Attend customer pre-bid meetings if required.

• Interface and communicate with customers and channel reps technically and commercially.

• Coordinating with the supply chain to identify suppliers for equipment and materials through regular studies of customer needs and market trends.

• Contributing to an effective positive customer relationship throughout the sales process.

• Examining and reporting on the results of tenders and identifying areas for improvement to increase success.

• Maintain and update tools and processes as necessary.

Qualifications for the Role:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Chemical or Instrumentation Engineering or a similar field strongly preferred but will consider equivalent work experience

• 5 years of relevant experience in preparing bids and tenders proposals or inside sales with temperature pressure flow and/or level instrumentation products; ability to apply specific application knowledge to advise customers on appropriate technology

• Experience in the oil & gas power paper and chemical industries preferred

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously

• Collaborative solution-focused approach with strong written and spoken communication skills but also able to work independently and under pressure.

• Technical knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps mechanical seals and their design and operational requirements) preferred

• Demonstrated skills in leading meetings including setting agendas preparing facilitating discussions and assigning follow-up activities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office SAP and Salesforce.

• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work permanently for ABB in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
