TheUtah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind(USDB) invites you to consider anemploymentopportunity with our agency. We are looking for a meticulous and responsible candidate to fill our Proofreader Aide position working at our Ogden campus.
*This is a part-time position. 4 hours per day 5 days a week. Work schedule: Monday Friday 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.*
Key Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provides quality assurance by assisting the certified Instructional Materials Technician(s) in the production of Braille accessible instructional materials for Utah students.
Works alongside Instructional Materials Technicians to verify proof copy of Braille transcription against original script to detect grammatical typographical or compositional errors and marks.
Helps ensure that Braille documents are formatted correctly.
Consults reference books or secures aid of Instructional Materials Technicians to check references to rules of grammar and composition.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: The model candidate for this position is someone who:
Has experience in reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to understand and apply grammatical typographical and compositional rules to Braille material.
Can read and understand instructional materials in a variety of curriculum areas and on instructional levels from kindergarten through high school.
Can read and interpret tactile graphics in a variety of curriculum areas including language arts mathematics science and social studies.
Understand and use common proofreading and standard printers marks.
Use automated software applications.
Successful completion of criminal background check contingent upon employment.
