Position Summary

The Project Scheduler is responsible for developing maintaining analyzing and communicating project schedules for utility-scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) construction projects.

This role works closely with Project Managers Construction Managers field supervision engineering procurement and project controls to ensure schedules accurately reflect the construction plan current field progress procurement requirements contractual milestones and forecast completion dates.

Utility-scale solar experience is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have strong Microsoft Project experience a practical understanding of construction sequencing and the ability to learn or apply utility-scale solar construction logic across civil structural electrical substation testing and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed baseline and project schedules in Microsoft Project from project turnover through final completion.
  • Build schedules using appropriate WBS activity logic realistic durations production rates contractual milestones procurement activities and commissioning requirements.
  • Integrate engineering procurement construction testing commissioning owner milestones material deliveries and long-lead equipment into project schedules.
  • Partner with Project Managers Construction Managers field supervision engineering and procurement teams to establish construction sequencing and validate planned production rates.
  • Update schedules weekly using verified field progress installed quantities actual dates remaining durations and forecast completion dates.
  • Monitor the critical path float milestone performance schedule variance out-of-sequence work and potential delays proactively communicating risks to project leadership.
  • Develop look-ahead schedules milestone reports schedule narratives dashboards and other updates for project teams owners and executive leadership.
  • Perform schedule analysis and develop what-if scenarios recovery schedules and acceleration plans when projects deviate from baseline.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts related to design changes owner changes weather procurement delays subcontractor performance and other project events.
  • Provide schedule analysis and documentation to support change orders time-extension requests and claims as needed.
  • Maintain accurate organized and auditable schedule files and supporting documentation.

Solar & BESS Scheduling

Develop and maintain schedules that reflect the sequencing and dependencies of utility-scale Solar and BESS construction including:

  • Civil/sitework roads grading and erosion controls
  • Pile installation tracker assembly and module installation
  • DC and MV electrical systems
  • Inverters transformers and substations
  • Material procurement and area releases
  • Testing energization and commissioning
  • BESS foundations equipment setting electrical installation controls integration testing and commissioning
  • Project turnover and closeout

Use installed quantities and production rates to validate activity durations measure progress and forecast completion.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of construction scheduling project planning project controls or related experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling activity logic float milestones WBS development and schedule updating.
  • Practical knowledge of construction sequencing and production-based planning.
  • Ability to develop schedules from drawings scopes of work estimates production assumptions and input from field leadership.
  • Ability to translate actual field progress into accurate schedule updates and forecasts.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

  • Utility-scale Solar EPC
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Utility substations or heavy electrical construction
  • Large civil or infrastructure construction
  • Self-perform/EPC construction environments
  • Primavera P6
  • Procore

The successful candidate is highly organized detail-oriented and comfortable working directly with both field and executive teams. They understand that an effective project schedule must reflect how construction is actually being performed in the field not simply contractual dates. Success in this role means maintaining accurate and timely schedules providing clear critical-path visibility identifying risks early producing reliable completion forecasts and helping project teams develop practical recovery plans when projects fall behind.
