Project Manager II

Summary

Our client a well-established organization in the insurance sector has an opening for a Project Manager II on their Business Applications team to lead IT projects and coordinate cross-functional teams driving successful technology implementations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in Agile PMP and RUP methodologies along with project management Agile coaching and process improvement expertise to ensure timely high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities

Scrum Master

• Facilitate scrum ceremonies including Daily Standups Sprint Planning Sprint Retrospective and Sprint Reviews.
• Act as a servant leader to cross-functional Agile teams ensuring adherence to Agile principles and best practices.
• Remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics continuous improvement and productivity.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to define and prioritize the product backlog.
• Guide the team in identifying and tracking metrics to ensure continuous progress.

Project Management

• Plan execute and oversee IT projects from inception through delivery using PMP principles and best practices.
• Develop project plans including scope schedule resource allocation risk mitigation strategies and budget.
• Ensure alignment of project goals with business objectives and IT strategy.
• Manage project teams fostering communication and collaboration between developers testers and stakeholders.
• Report regularly on project status risks and key metrics to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer for long-term project sustainability.

Methodology Expertise

• Apply a deep understanding of Agile PMP and RUP methodologies to tailor project management approaches to project complexity and requirements.
• Provide coaching and training on Agile and hybrid methodologies to team members and stakeholders.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by driving process optimization and effective tool use (e.g. JIRA Confluence).

Problem Solving

• Proactively identify project risks and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies.
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for project issues resolving conflicts and removing blockers in a timely manner.
• Manage change control processes ensuring project adjustments are handled efficiently without impacting quality or deadlines.

Environments

• Work with business applications across on-premises hybrid and cloud environments.
• Partner with infrastructure and cloud teams to ensure application environments are stable secure and performant.
• Lead the transition of applications from on-premises to cloud or hybrid architectures working closely with senior IT leadership on migration strategy.

Risk & Compliance

• Ensure business applications comply with industry regulations and internal security standards including SOX PCI-DSS and other financial sector regulations.
• Partner with the Cybersecurity team to secure applications against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Develop and implement procedures for regular audits risk assessments and disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure QA processes adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations (ISO GDPR HIPAA).
• Develop and maintain test documentation test plans test cases test scripts test data management.
• Implement processes to ensure traceability of test cases to requirements and automated defect tracking/reporting.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Business or related field.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or equivalent certification required. Advanced certifications (ACSM PMI-ACP) preferred.
• 5 years of IT project management experience including 3 years in a Scrum Master or Agile Project Manager role.
• Proven experience with Agile PMP and RUP methodologies.
• Experience managing large-scale IT infrastructure or software development projects highly preferred.
• Experience in a hybrid Agile/Waterfall environment preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid understanding of software development lifecycles and IT systems.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills across multiple concurrent projects.
• Excellent communication negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Agile tools such as JIRA Trello or equivalent.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.
