Project Manager Heavy Civil / Water & Wastewater

Salem Oregon

Our client is a well-established heavy civil contractor with a strong track record of complex infrastructure projects throughout Oregon. They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take the lead on major water and wastewater projects including wastewater treatment plants pump stations and water treatment facilities.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys having real ownership of their projects. Youll be responsible for the full project lifecyclefrom planning and preconstruction through execution financial management and closeoutwhile working closely with owners subcontractors vendors and your internal project team.

The ideal candidate is a strong project leader who understands heavy civil construction is comfortable managing the numbers and knows how to keep a complex project moving forward.

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of water and wastewater construction projects from initial planning through successful completion.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope schedule budget resources and risk.
  • Manage projects involving wastewater treatment plants pump stations water treatment plants and related infrastructure.
  • Lead project teams subcontractors vendors and other project partners creating clear expectations and accountability.
  • Develop and manage project budgets schedules forecasts and financial performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners and clients providing regular project updates and managing expectations.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to keep work on schedule and financially on track.
  • Oversee quality control and ensure work meets project specifications contractual requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain a strong focus on jobsite safety and ensure project teams and subcontractors are following required safety practices.
  • Manage project documentation including submittals progress reports schedules change orders correspondence and project closeout.
  • Oversee Assistant Project Managers interns and other members of the project management support team.
  • Work closely with field operations and company leadership to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

Project Manager Qualifications:

  • 3 years of project management experience in heavy civil construction with experience managing complex water/wastewater projects strongly preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction with Strong understanding of construction project planning scheduling budgeting cost control and financial forecasting.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors vendors field teams and multiple project stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing the financial side of projects and being accountable for project profitability.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with owners and clients.
  • Organized proactive and comfortable making decisions and solving problems in a fast-moving construction environment.
  • Experience managing and developing junior project management staff is preferred.
