Role description:

Arcadis Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team is seeking an experienced Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer with 7 years of consulting engineering experience to contribute to our expanding portfolio of industrial water and wastewater related design projects.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

• Function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
• Apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment biological treatment membrane treatment adsorption filtration disinfection thermal evaporation and crystallization
• Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer
• Delegate engineering or scientific calculations/ drawings to junior staff
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions and Support implementation of projects from study phase through design construction startup and commissioning and operation and maintenance of treatment systems

This is a hybrid position supporting client facilities and projects across the United States with occasional international assignments. Candidates residing in SoCal market preferred.

Role accountabilities:

The Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer should have an understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems with experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing construction documents including mechanical drawings P&IDs specifications control narratives technical reports and O&M manuals. Proficient in performing engineering calculations using tools such as Excel and Mathcad developing equipment and piping specifications coordinating within multidisciplinary project teams and providing guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers.

• Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings specifications calculations plans and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects
• Field work will be required including but not limited to surveys/data gathering construction quality assurance inspections bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing at client sites or in our lab etc.
• Assist with system commissioning and start-up including training plant staff
• Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
• Manage projects as necessary to meet both client and Arcadis expectations
• Supporting business development including proposal preparation and meetings with clients
• Travel as needed for meetings site visits etc. (up to 25%))

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Environmental Chemical or Civil Engineering
• 7 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering
• Professional engineer registration in one or more states

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
