Job Summary

Project Engineer Heavy Civil / Highway Infrastructure (TXDOT)
Position Overview
Our client a growing and well-established heavy civil construction contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful execution of TXDOT highway and infrastructure projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers Superintendents subcontractors and owners to ensure projects are delivered safely on schedule within budget and in accordance with quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting large-scale roadway bridge drainage and infrastructure projects and possess strong technical scheduling and project controls capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing all phases of TXDOT highway and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Support project planning scheduling budgeting and cost control efforts.
  • Coordinate with owners engineers subcontractors vendors and field personnel.
  • Track project progress and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Review and process RFIs submittals change orders and pay applications.
  • Assist with quantity tracking production reporting and forecasting.
  • Monitor project schedules and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Ensure compliance with TXDOT specifications contract requirements and safety standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain detailed meeting minutes and action items.
  • Support procurement activities and material tracking.
  • Assist field operations teams in resolving technical and construction-related issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer or related project support role within heavy civil construction.
  • Experience working on TXDOT roadway highway bridge drainage or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings specifications contracts and project controls.
  • Proficiency with scheduling and construction management software including:
    • Primavera P6
    • Viewpoint
    • Sage
    • Timberline
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for a small to mid-sized heavy civil contractor.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Experience supporting projects ranging from roadway expansions interchanges bridges utility relocations drainage improvements and other transportation infrastructure projects.
