Transportation Project Engineer (PE Licensed) - Full time Location: Chicago Illinois Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Transportation Project Engineer to support the planning design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects throughout Illinois. This role is ideal for a Licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys both technical design and project leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will work on roadway highway bridge and transit-related projects while coordinating with clients stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time within budget and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects.
Prepare and review Plans Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) for public and private sector projects.
Manage project scope schedules budgets and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate with internal teams clients agencies and subconsultants to ensure successful project execution.
Review engineering drawings contract documents RFIs and project submissions for quality accuracy and completeness.
Provide technical guidance on roadway design highway geometrics drainage systems traffic engineering maintenance of traffic and related transportation disciplines.
Ensure compliance with applicable transportation design standards agency requirements and industry best practices.
Support quality control processes and assist with project documentation archiving and deliverable management.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of project teams.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) License in Illinois.
4 7 years of experience in transportation engineering and project delivery.
Experience working on projects for agencies such as IDOT Illinois Tollway CDOT counties municipalities or other public-sector clients.
Strong understanding of transportation design principles standards and engineering practices.
Excellent project management communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a collaborative environment.
Technical Skills
Experience with the following software is preferred:
