The work hours for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm EST. While working in person at our offices in Innovation Quarter in downtown Winston-Salem NC is encouraged remote work is an option.

Pay Range

The Office of InformaticsDIVEteam(Data Integration Visualization Evaluation)is seeking aProgrammerskilled in artificial intelligence techniques such asmachine learningandnatural language processing. The DIVE team applies data science and informatics techniques to data problems arising in all facets of the academic enterprise from education to research to strategic initiatives. This role will aimto drive growth and maintenance of education/research: data warehouses and analysis pipelines academic applications and the informatics components of strategic projects. With multiple strategic combinations drastically increasing the scope of data and services managed by Informatics this position will help address the information needs of these increases and other changes associated with this rapid growth.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree with computer course and four years experience in computer programming or operations research required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in computer programming. Experience with the installation and maintenance of personal computer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Attend project and departmental meetings and contribute to the project design concerning data management needs
• Collaborate with faculty team leads and stakeholders to anticipate define and satisfydata needs
• Develop data preprocessing pipelines to ensure high-quality input for models and algorithms
• Explore and integrate state-of-the-art techniques including machine learning natural language processing expert systems and automation to address research challenges
• Optimize and fine-tune existing models to improve accuracy efficiency and performance
• Conduct thorough analyses and experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of solutions and provide insights for further improvements
• Document code methodologies and results for effective knowledge sharing
• Performs other related duties as needed

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• trong experience in Python or R programming
• In-depth knowledge of artificial intelligence methods usages and performance evaluation particularly machine learning models and natural language processing (NLP) data analysis
• Proficiency in data preprocessing feature engineering and model evaluation techniques.
• Familiarity and experience with Agile or a similar project management methodology
• Superior oral and written communication skills to translate complex technical details toeffectively digestible explanations
• Working knowledge of SQL Oracle and SQL Server databases
• Familiarity with medical data standards and terminology a plus
• Experience working in a cloud environment a plus
