Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Forensic Science (DFS) has recently relocated to a new stateoftheart facility in Hanover County. This modern complex houses staff from the Central Laboratory the Division of Technical Services the Directors Office Administrative Offices and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Division of Technical Services is seeking a motivated and detailoriented professional to join our team in this dynamic environment as a Program Administration Specialist.
This position provides administrative and technical support to the Quality Assurance (QA) Section Supervisor and the Director of Technical Services. The Program Administration Specialist performs established routine QA functions and ensures that all QA files and records are accurately maintained updated and organized in accordance with agency standards. The position also ensures that safety files and records are properly maintained updated and organized as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Familiarity with scientific laboratory operations including QA and safety
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 to include Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
- Familiarity with quality management software (QMS)
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 accreditation standards
- Experience with paper and electronic record keeping and filing systems
- Administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain accurate records evaluate data prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Eligible to possess a valid Virginia Drivers License or have other means of reliable transportation
Additional Considerations
- Experience in a scientific laboratory
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
- Experience performing and documenting QA procedures
- Experience using quality management software (QMS)
