• Provide safe compassionate and evidence-based nursing care in an occupational health setting.

• Apply current knowledge of occupational nursing nursing procedures emergency care preventive care and infection prevention and control.

• Utilize the nursing processincluding assessment planning implementation and evaluationwith limited supervision and appropriate clinical judgment.

• Administer medications accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice.

• Provide patient education and promote preventive health practices.

• Demonstrate a professional caring and patient-centered approach when interacting with patients clients and families.

• Perform clinical procedures and services including:

  • Starting and monitoring intravenous fluids.

  • Performing EKGs.

  • Obtaining vital signs and blood glucose levels.

  • Performing basic phlebotomy.

  • Assisting physicians with medical evaluations and treatments.

  • Providing emergency care and other nursing services within scope of practice.

• Coordinate and supervise daily clinical routines for physical examinations pre-hire examinations and fitness-for-duty evaluations.

• Review patient medical histories perform required clinical procedures and coordinate with administrative staff to ensure medical records are complete accurate and properly filed.

• Maintain accurate timely and pertinent documentation in patient medical records.

• Assist physicians with the investigation evaluation and implementation of new clinical practices and procedures.

• Collect and analyze medical data to monitor clinical trends and support continuous quality and practice improvement.

• Ensure compliance with infection prevention safety and clinical standards.

• Manage day-to-day medical office operations in the absence of a physician ensuring continuity of patient care and clinical services.

• Collaborate effectively with physicians administrative staff and other healthcare team members to support efficient and high-quality patient car

Management Prefers:

• Maintain current comprehensive knowledge of occupational nursing nursing procedures emergency care preventive medicine and infection prevention and control.

• Maintain current working knowledge of evidence-based clinical guidelines and best practices related to smoking cessation cholesterol management occupational infection control and other relevant health programs.

• Proactively seek educational opportunities training and professional resources to enhance nursing knowledge and improve patient care.

• Research and stay informed on emerging issues practices and standards related to nursing and occupational health.

• Experience working in a Primary Care Occupational Health Urgent Care or cardiology clinic setting.

Must have graduated from an accredited high school

OR

a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.)

OR

post-high school diploma.

College education is preferred.

Completed the Registered Nursing program

AND

currently hold and maintain a Registered Nurses license in accordance to the rules regulations and laws of nursing in North Carolina.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

Additional Training / Experience

Reviews current literature on primary prevention of heart disease and cancer and assists the doctor in identifying evaluating and instituting new processes where appropriate. Tracks healthcare trends to improve care throughout the agencies we accordance with current national guidelines and clinical best practice recommendations the Nurse initiates testing follow-up and counseling with patients who are at elevated risk for developing chronic disease. Advises patients on accurate and up-to-date infectious disease and immunization recommendations based on current guidelines. Disseminates medical information as needed to relay important medical facts as to prevent injury sickness or disease.

The Nurse should maintain a CPR certification and is encouraged to seek out clinical education opportunities in addition to State required Nursing continuing educational hours and requirements.

Veterans and National Guard Preference

Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
