Job Summary

Position SummaryThe Professional Engineer (PE) is a vital component of a team that oversees the operation and maintenance of the wastewater conveyance system (System). The System includes several hundred miles of large diameter gravity and pressure pipelines; as well as over 20 high capacity lift stations. The PE acts as the project manager for special projects and studies in the System. They are also responsible for quality control review of System projects managed by the engineering department. Furthermore they investigate challenges and offer solutions to optimize operation of the ResponsibilitiesIdentifies prioritizes develops and manages projects involving the operation maintenance rehabilitation and optimization and improvement of wastewater facilities including an extensive condition assessment in design review design meetings studies and construction phase activities associated with capital improvement projects managed by the engineering studies plans specifications submittals and change orders prepared by others for completeness and accuracy as a quality control as a liaison between wastewater system operations and other departments like engineering planning maintenance instrumentation and and/or coordinates preparation of bid packages for projects funded through and evaluates wastewater and compiles System information for distribution to the engineering department and outside wastewater technologies processes and equipment for potential use in wastewater projects and maintains wastewater conveyance system operations preferences field studies and tests to optimize operation of the an environment of Integrity Trust Respect Unity Safety and other duties as RequirementsEducation & Experience:Degree in Civil Engineering or other related field received from an accredited college or utilizing engineering design and project management a valid Texas Drivers Skills & AbilitiesProfessional Engineer licensed in the State of effective written and verbal communication knowledge and practical experience in the principles and practices of wastewater systems and project management. Possess the ability to work independently identify opportunities complete tasks efficiently and guide projects to and Physical Working ConditionsDriving a District vehicle for business wil be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current valid and vehicle - appropriate driver s license of their resident state. Moderate physical labor and considerable mental attention required with some eyestrain. Generally desirable conditions with some outside visits to work-sites with varying environmental conditions. Considerable time can be spent working with and viewing a computer screen. Considerable time viewing plans specifications and reading reports and correspondence. Time will be spent at construction sites traversing rough terrain climbing stairs and ladders to access structures. Equipment used includes calculators computers and some field survey equipment.
