Professional Advising Coordinator Nursing

Job Summary
Serves the pre-licensure nursing student body to ensure successful completion of the general education component of the nursing program. The Professional Advising Coordinator will begin working with students during summer orientation and provide support through the first two years of study. This individual works closely with the nursing faculty and support services including the registrar student success and academic affairs departments across the Assumption campus. This position reports directly to the Dean of Nursing.
ACOUNTABILITIES:
- Serve in the role of professional adviser during the General Education/Foundations portion of the nursing curriculum
- Serve as a liaison with FSON faculty who serve as advisors of record to communicate individual students trajectory with general education coursework
- Work with the Dean of Nursing and the Director providing necessary documentation and statistics to foster understanding of progression and persistence issues in the FSON
- Facilitate planned and pop-up workshops that support student learning and success
- Collaborate with the director in determining pre-requisite course needs and scheduling with campus departments.
- Prepare reports in compliance with the Froelich School of Nursing Program Assessment and Evaluation Plan.
- Document and communicate in a timely manner with the faculty advisor plans for student success.
- Use Web-adviser to assist in student registration and advising notes.
- Serve as a Froelich School of Nursing collaborator to the Assumption University Student Success and Academic Support Services.
- Assist the Academic Program Coordinator in communicating program expectations and deadlines to nursing students.
- Serve as a voting member of the Student Affairs Committee.
- Attend all Nursing Faculty Assembly meetings and other committee meetings as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing to support the success of nursing students across the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelors degree.
Excellent verbal and written skills; strong organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to effectively deal with a variety of individuals.
Intermediate computing skills with Microsoft office Suite are required to create spreadsheets documents and databases.
Ability to work independently on projects as assigned.
Ability to analyze and trend various forms of data and submit written reports in a timely manner.
Ability to follow-up follow-through multi-task set priorities and adhere to deadlines.
Ability to function independently work collaboratively pay attention to detail work under pressure prioritize multiple projects and handle confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic advising and support skills.
Experience in an institute of higher education with proven technical abilities across a variety of complex software systems relational databases and web-based programs.
At the Universitys discretion the education and experience pre-requisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the University an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
