Position Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations in a pre-hung door production facility. This role ensures production targets are met safely efficiently and with high quality by coordinating labor equipment materials and workflow. The supervisor leads shop personnel enforces safety and quality standards and drives continuous improvement across all production areas.
- Plan and coordinate daily production activities to meet output targets and delivery schedules
- Start up production each shift ensuring all lines and sub-shops are properly staffed and operational
- Review shop orders for accuracy special requirements and material needs
- Assign work and adjust staffing based on priorities callouts and workflow demands
- Monitor production flow identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
- Track downtime and production performance
- Supervise train and cross-train production employees across departments
- Provide clear direction on job duties expectations and daily goals
- Conduct performance evaluations coaching and disciplinary actions as needed
- Lead daily production and safety meetings (e.g. SQDC shift start meetings)
- Promote teamwork accountability and a positive work environment
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards and customer specifications
- Verify QC documentation is completed accurately and consistently
- Perform routine inspections throughout production (prep assembly and finished goods)
- Investigate and resolve quality issues and discrepancies
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency reduce waste and control costs
- Enforce PPE usage and adherence to all safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular safety meetings and address hazards promptly
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure proper operation
- Troubleshoot production and machinery issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance
- Ensure machines are properly maintained and work areas remain clean
- Verify material availability and staging accuracy for production runs
- Communicate material shortages or discrepancies to inventory and scheduling teams
- Ensure accurate counts door types and handing during staging and production
- Complete and review production reports including daily tactical reports and downtime tracking
- Ensure all production and QC paperwork is completed and submitted accurately
- Serve as backup to the Production Manager when required
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Manufacturing and corporate objectives
- 35 years of experience in manufacturing preferably in door millwork or building products
- Strong knowledge of production processes machinery and workflow management
- Proven ability to lead teams enforce safety standards and resolve operational issues effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with general contractors and customers
- Demonstrated leadership communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with pre-hung door production processes (prep machining assembly staging) preferred
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with crews customers and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Base: $36.00 - $41.00 per hour
