Job Summary
About the Role:
The Production Supervisor also commonly searched as Manufacturing Supervisor Operations Supervisor Shift Supervisor and Production Team Leader leads day-to-day manufacturing operations in the Granite City Illinois area. This position manages production employees scheduling safety quality throughput material flow and achievement of daily manufacturing goals while developing a high-performing production team.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise production employees and coordinate daily work assignments to achieve manufacturing schedules and customer requirements.
- Manage staffing employee scheduling attendance workflow shift handoffs and allocation of labor across production activities.
- Monitor safety quality throughput scrap downtime labor efficiency and schedule attainment throughout the shift.
- Provide hands-on leadership coaching training performance feedback and accountability for production team members.
- Identify production bottlenecks and coordinate with maintenance quality materials and operations teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure employees follow standard work instructions quality procedures safety requirements PPE standards and established manufacturing processes.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to production delays quality concerns safety incidents and equipment downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives involving lean manufacturing 5S productivity improvement waste reduction and standardized work.
- Maintain accurate production reports staffing records shift documentation and operational performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within manufacturing production warehouse foundry metal processing or industrial operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing hourly production employees and coordinating daily production schedules.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflow labor planning safety quality productivity and material handling.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and make timely operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership communication coaching conflict resolution and employee development skills.
- Experience using production reports manufacturing KPIs Microsoft Office or related manufacturing systems.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work within an active industrial manufacturing environment and support assigned shift requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelors degree in Manufacturing Operations Management Business Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
- Foundry metals fabrication machining or heavy manufacturing experience.
- Lean manufacturing 5S Six Sigma Kaizen or continuous improvement experience.
- Experience with ERP MRP manufacturing execution systems or production planning software.
- Previous responsibility for safety metrics quality metrics production KPIs and employee performance management.
