Manufacturing Supervisor Job Description

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily production activities on the production floor to ensure safety quality productivity and on-time delivery. This role oversees a team of production associates provides hands-on support resolves issues in real time and drives continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

Supervise coach and develop a team of production employees across assigned shifts.

Assign daily tasks monitor performance and ensure adherence to standard work.

Conduct shift start-ups team meetings and communicate goals and expectations.

Address performance issues attendance and behavioral concerns promptly and professionally.

Production & Workflow Management

Ensure production schedules are met by managing labor materials and equipment effectively.

Monitor line performance identify bottlenecks and take corrective action to maintain throughput.

Coordinate with buyers engineering and maintenance to resolve production issues.

Maintain accurate production reporting downtime tracking and shift documentation.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce all safety policies PPE requirements and OSHA standards.

Conduct safety audits hazard identification and incident investigations.

Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.

Quality Assurance

Ensure products meet quality specifications and standards.

Partner with Quality teams to address defects rework and process deviations.

Train employees on quality procedures and standard work instructions.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency reduce waste and enhance workflow.

Support Lean 5S and Kaizen initiatives.

Recommend process changes and assist with implementation.

Administrative & Operational Duties

Approve timecards manage schedules and coordinate overtime needs.

Participate in hiring onboarding and training of new employees.

Maintain inventory accuracy for materials used on the line.

Ensure equipment is properly maintained and escalate issues to Maintenance.

Qualifications

Required

3 years of experience in manufacturing assembly or production environment.

1 years of leadership or supervisory experience.

Strong understanding of safety quality and production processes.

Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced high-volume environment.

Excellent communication problem-solving and organizational skills.

Proficiency with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office ERP systems).

Preferred

Experience with Lean Manufacturing 5S or continuous improvement methodologies.

Background in CNC programming machining metal fabrication or machine shop operations.

Work Environment

Manufacturing/assembly floor environment with exposure to machinery noise and moving equipment.

Ability to stand for long periods lift up to 40 lbs and work overtime or weekends as needed.
