Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Product Owner / Systems Engineer to lead the development and integration of next-generation Mission Systems cockpit interfaces and this role you will bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and strategic product goals at a total systems level.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) and Multifunction Control Display Units (MCDUs) including physical keyboard inputs and display logic. Prior experience with C-17 Globemaster III avionics or mission systems is highly desirable.
## Key Responsibilities
- Product Leadership: Act as the Product Owner for the Mission Systems and Displays team managing the product backlog defining user stories and prioritizing engineering tasks to meet strict program milestones.
- Systems-Level Engineering: Define capture and manage systems-level requirements for cockpit interfaces MFDs MCDUs and flight displays.
- Interface & Display Design: Oversee the logic layout and human-machine interface (HMI) for cockpit displays ensuring seamless integration between keyboard inputs tactile controls and visual readouts.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with software developers hardware engineers and human factors experts to ensure systems align with pilot needs and safety standards.
- Planning & Organization: Lead sprint planning alignment meetings and technical reviews. Provide clear status updates to program leadership regarding schedule risks and technical roadblocks.
## Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Systems Engineering Expertise: Proven experience working at a systems-level within aerospace defense or complex avionics environments.
- Cockpit Display Experience: Hands-on experience designing testing or managing MFD (Multi-Function Display) and MCDU (Multifunction Control Display Unit) systems specifically handling keyboard entry-to-display integration.
- Leadership Capabilities: Demonstrated experience as a Product Owner Tech Lead or Systems Engineering lead with strong organizational planning and backlog-management skills.
Highly Desired (Preferred):
- Direct prior experience with C-17 flight decks mission systems or avionics modernization programs.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies in an aerospace environment.
- Knowledge of military or commercial avionics standards (e.g. DO-178 DO-254 ARP4754A).
