Job Summary
The Product Owner for Consumer Payments supports the strategy development and day-to-day delivery of digital payment experiences across the banks consumer payment ecosystem (Zelle bill pay internal/external transfers ACH and domestic wires). This role bridges the gap between Product Managers Technology Operations and cross-functional teams.
REQUIRES:
- Agile Execution: Proven ability to write detailed user stories defining functionality business/payment rules exception flows and customer experience considerations.
- Sprint Management: Active participation in sprint planning and reviews to ensure payment features are fully refined and ready for development.
- Tactical Decision-Making: Ability to make day-to-day choices regarding payment priorities feature trade-offs and defect resolutions.
- Documentation: Experience maintaining process flows banking business rules payment scenarios and release notes.
- Stakeholder Management: Skill in communicating updates risks and changes across Product Operations Servicing and Technology departments.
- Core Agile Tools: Strong hands-on experience using Jira (backlog/sprints) and Confluence (documentation/collaboration).
- Technical Payment Knowledge: Working knowledge of ACH and/or wire transfer processes (initiation processing settlement exceptions returns and controls).
- Risk & Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of payment controls operational risk fraud prevention and regulatory frameworks including NACHA OFAC approvals and banking audit requirements.
Core Responsibilities & Daily Execution
- Backlog Ownership: Create prioritize and maintain the product backlog specifically for consumer payment rails (Zelle bill pay internal/external transfers ACH and wires).
- Requirements Definition: Write clear user stories defining functionality backend payment rules exception flows and customer experience considerations.
- Sprint Facilitation: Participate in sprint planning and reviews to ensure payment features are refined well-understood and ready for development.
- Tactical Decision-Making: Make day-to-day choices regarding priorities feature trade-offs and defect resolutions to prevent development bottlenecks.
- Documentation & Mapping: Maintain exhaustive product documentation including process flows business rules payment scenarios and release notes across all payment types.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Team Alignment: Partner cross-functionally with UX Development IT Fraud Compliance Servicing and Marketing to ensure updates meet both business goals and customer safety expectations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the central point of contact to broadcast progress updates risks and changes across Product Operations Servicing and Technology divisions.
