Job Summary
How You Will Make an ImpactThe Product Manager leads cross-functional teams to identify develop and manage the full lifecycle of product families delivering products that meet customers needs are safe and sustainable and align with strategic business Nuts and BoltsWork with customers vendors and internal partners to identify new products or changes to existing products to meet customer needs additionally search for new product ideas that can create new markets or market segments and bring new customers to our businessDevelop comprehensive Product Portfolios and Development Roadmaps for families of products assigned to the Product Manager (the Product Portfolio details the product characteristics configurations target markets and competitive landscape; the Product Roadmap details the evolution path of the product over its lifetime)Analyze and regularly report on product usage and performance trends profitability competitor activity market and technology trends and advise on product improvements and new product needsCollaborate with Marketing on product positioning branding and promotional strategiesSupport sales and operations with regular and ongoing product training competitive product analysis/benchmarking price-book management and revisions and product related communications and updatesWork with Marketing conduct qualitative and quantitative customer research to identify and propose new opportunities which will drive customer value increase product revenue and maximize profitabilityRoutinely communicate with the sales force and internal stakeholders regarding product updates and availability competitive activity sales positioning best practices and new product development updatesFor new Product Development Programs or major product change projects assist the Program Manager in development of Charters definition of User Requirements and target market development of Sales and Marketing strategies benchmarking defining cost and performance targets setting milestone dates and defining product performance objectivesDevelop and expand technical and business knowledge necessary for effective product portfolio managementRemain abreast of the market technology trends the competition and the environment acting as an information resource to all functional areas; identify key competitors understand and analyze the competitive market environment develop plans to protect business from competitorrelated activitiesTrack product cost warranty cost customer satisfaction product risk and liability opportunities; identify opportunities and initiate change activities to manage such opportunitiesRequired CredentialsBachelors degree in business Sales Marketing or Engineering preferredMinimum seven (7) years of experience in Manufacturing in same or related industry; Automotive Product Management experience orMinimum seven (7) years of experience in Sales or Marketing in same or similar industry orMinimum seven (7) years of experience in Engineering in same or related industry orKnowledge of applicable service body and vehicle level safety and regulatory standards and requirementsProject and Program management exposure in a Phase/Gate environment is preferredHow We Make an ImpactAt Reading Truck we have more than 65 years of industry leadership in the manufacture distribution and enhancement of work truck bodies.
