Engineering position utilizing education and experience to design and release combustion engine components. This D&R position focusses on design development release and part validation with emphasis on internal combustion this position the engineer will be part of the Nano V6 Powerpack team to deliver new forward model program milestones and hardware delivery from concept through production implementation as well as current model quality and cost efficiency actions.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Design develop and release ICE subsystem and components which meet program requirements and timing in accordance with Ford GPDS milestones.
  • Lead / Support resolution of all design manufacturing quality and launch issues.
  • Create complete and approve supplier and Ford engine DVPs and oversee testing in support of robust validation.
  • Lead Sub System CPMT activities.
  • Support all program meetings (EPMT Design Review DPMT change control etc.).
  • Lead drawing release and changes.
  • Interface with Calibration mating components Purchasing suppliers and mfg./assembly plants.
  • Prototype Build coordination: load forward model part numbers into system and ensure fit and function.
  • Work directly with suppliers Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) and launch teams to support programs and resolve quality issues including travel both domestic and international when required.
  • WERS (Worldwide engineering release system) coordination; alerts Concerns and SREA processing.
  • Develop and maintain CPMT documents including appropriate quality documents (ESOW DFMEA FEDE e3P SCCAFs Global Integrator OPTEX PPAP & PSWs 543 Chart etc.) for program specific sub-system responsibilities.
  • Create complete and approve supplier and internal DV/PV test plans and oversee testing in support of robust validation.
  • Lead/Support warranty reduction and issue resolution using a structured 8D documented approach.
  • Lead/Support TVM cost reduction idea generation and implementation.
  • Lead/Support change control activities.
  • Travel as necessary to Ford Assembly Plants/Facilities and Suppler/Sub-Supplier sites for issue resolution and build support.


Qualifications

Youll have...

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • 2 years of internal combustion engine component and system/subsystem D&R experience.
  • The D&R Engineer is responsible for managing product release CAD and BOM structures including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis. This role also includes facilitating supplier data integration and developing CAD studies to support and drive design improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook etc)
  • Knowledge of FMEAs Control Plans and DV/PV Plans
  • Knowledge of GD&T and Dimensional Control (SPC Statistics Etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and background
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team

This position is a salary grade 6-8 and ranges from $74300 - $166200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
