The Opportunity
Lightsource bp is seeking aDirector Procurement (Americas)to lead strategic procurement efforts supporting the deployment ofutilityscale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)and solar projects across the United States.
This leadership role will partner closely withdevelopment engineering construction finance legal and executive leadershipto secure critical equipment and services manage supplier relationships and drive procurement strategies that safeguard project delivery and commercial performance.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise inrenewable energy procurement global supply chains and complex equipment negotiations particularly within the rapidly growingBESS market.
What Youll Do
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that optimizepricing delivery quality and risk mitigationacross large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Lead procurement initiatives supportingBattery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)while also supporting solar (PV) and emerging energy infrastructure projects.
- Drivecategory strategies and market intelligenceto navigate global supply chain dynamics policy changes and geopolitical risks.
- LeadRFP processes supplier evaluations and commercial negotiations for critical project equipment and services.
- Negotiate complex contracts forbattery storage systems PV equipment highvoltage components and related infrastructure.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with global suppliers and manufacturers.
- Partner with internal teams includingdevelopment engineering finance legal insurance power marketing and constructionto support project execution.
- Assist withfinancial close processes and external diligencerelated to procurement scopes.
- Facilitate execution ofNDAs Letters of Intent and commercial agreementswith key counterparties.
- Monitor equipment procurement schedules and coordinate delivery to project sites.
- Supportsafe harbor equipment procurementstrategies related to ITC/PTC qualification.
- Work closely withHSQE and compliance teamsto evaluate suppliers and ensure safe quality project execution.
What Were Looking For
Knowledge
- Renewable energy procurement with experience inglobal sourcing and international supplier negotiations
- Deep knowledge ofBattery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)technologies and procurement strategies
- Strong understanding ofPV equipment including modules inverters trackers racking systems and HV equipment
- Experience withmarket intelligence category strategy and supply chain risk analysis
- Familiarity withinternational logistics and import/export requirements
Skills
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract management capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships across suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Experience managing procurement fortechnically complex equipment and infrastructure
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work within aglobal crossfunctional organization
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree inSTEM engineering business or related field
- MBA preferred
- Professional certifications such asCPSM CSCP or CIPSpreferred
- Fluency in English required;Spanish or Mandarinis a plus
Experience
- 1012 years of professional experiencewith57 years in procurement leadership roles
- 5 years of direct experience with utilityscale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Procurement or supply chain experience withinrenewable energy infrastructure or EPC environments
- Experience supportinglarge-scale projects (MW)including batteries substations and highvoltage equipment
- Track record of executingmultiyear framework agreements with global suppliers

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:$170000 $190000 annually 25% annual bonus
