Job Summary

Position OverviewThe lab technician is responsible for maintaining processing tanks and the batch treatment area in compliance with applicable policies procedures and regulations. The lab tech uses lab equipment to prepare reagents and solutions troubleshoot lab and test-related problems and review test results to ensure applicable standards are addition to typical lab responsibilities the technician is responsible for maintaining processing tanks including the measurement of levels pH and other chemical composition and forcoordinating and/or performing chemical adjustments and tank cleaning in accordance with applicable safety procedures internal work processes and applicable city state and federal position is classified as role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship orAn individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e. a Green Card holder) orAn individual who is granted status as a protected personEssential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential processing tanks and batch treatment area per establishedprocedures and regulatory standards; performs Adds Decant Builds and Dumps of processing tanks as appropriatePrepares lab reagents/solutionsMaintains and operates lab equipment including pipettes burettes TDS and pH meters.; troubleshoots basic lab and test-related issues; ensures proper use care and storage of equipmentPerforms Adds Decant Builds and Dumps of processing tanksCompletes accurate timely and legible quality records in accordance withAS9100 Quality Policy and NADCAP requirements; inputs QC data into theinformation management systemCompletes regulatory and hazardous waste reporting and disposal records as requiredCoordinates with internal/external sources for preventative maintenanceschedules on all lab equipmentReviews customer specifications and identifies applicable data analysisrequirements pass/fail criteria modulus calculations test set-up andconfigurationMaintains quality procedures quality assurance instructions and processcontrol procedures to conform to all applicable customer requirementsindustry standards and registration systems; supports and participates asneeded in AS/ISO/Nadcap/customer/supplier quality audits of process andproductsAssists in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality productivity and cost-effectiveness based on observations and experience; provides technical expertise and works with operators to identify and implement improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency; implements lean principles techniques and methods as appropriateWork ExperienceMinimum of 1 year experience in a quality role in a manufacturingenvironment is requiredPrevious experience in laboratory operations is requiredComprehensive understanding of engineering drawings as it relates to thetechnical aspects of manufacturing and engineering is required; must be ableto accurately read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsCurrent/Recent HAZOPER and RCCRA certification preferredOther Required Skills and AbilitiesMust pass a vision color test at pre-employment and periodically thereafterMust be able to pass Hazwoper and RCCRA exams within a reasonableperiod after hire and must maintain certifications throughout employment inroleUnderstanding manufacturing material flow process change and qualityprocesses is preferredExperience in continuous improvement concepts such as Six Sigma and Leanis preferredKnowledge of and experience with the requirements of AS9100Knowledge in RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) AnalysisPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentTo perform the essential functions of the role employees must be able to perform thefollowing activities with or without reasonable accommodations:Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility stand for long periods toperform job dutiesRegularly lift carry (short distances) and push/pull up to 100 pounds usingpeer assistance and/or other lifting & material handling equipmentPeriodically lift overhead and carry push/pull up to 50 poundsOccasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform dutiesFrequently climb steps stairs or laddersOccasionally bend crawl stoop squat or kneelFrequently uses hand or fingers to manually inspect parts tighten hardware &fixtures and operate machine and material handling controlsAccurately distinguish colors to respond to sensors indicators and color-variable dashboardsVisual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devicesWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a lab within the manufacturing shop environment where workingconditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:Moderate to excessive noise (hearing protection required)Dust smoke mist fumes/vapors (regularly)Extreme temperatures (occasionally)Hazardous chemicals & lab equipmentHazardous equipment including forklifts hand tools cranes or other liftingdevices and other equipment used in a machine shop environment(continually)The use of PPE including hearing protection eye and hand protection respiratoryprotection and use of safety footwear may be requiredEducationHigh School diploma or High School Equivalency required.A bachelors degree in engineering chemistry or other science is preferred.
