Job Summary
The Process Technician is a hands-on technical role at the center of Amcors injection molding operation. This individual is responsible for the daily performance of injection molding presses at P8 from startup through shutdown including mold changes process troubleshooting cycle time optimization and on-going mold preventive maintenance.

This is a role with real technical impact direct visibility to division leadership and clear growth opportunity as the division expands.
Note on title: Candidates with 3 years of setup/process experience will be considered at the Process Technician level. Candidates with 12 years of strong mold setup experience who show clear technical aptitude may be considered at the Mold Setter level with a defined development path to Process Technician.
Press Operations & Process Management
Execute press startups and shutdowns per established procedures; load and verify process parameters from machine memory and job documentation
Monitor running presses throughout the shift for process deviations quality issues and equipment anomalies
Continuously optimize cycle times and process parameters to maximize productivity while meeting quality standards
Troubleshoot common molding defects systematically (short shots flash sink marks warpage dimensional variation surface defects etc.) and implement approved process corrections
Document all process changes parameter adjustments and deviations per ISO 9001 procedures and shift logs
Mold Changes & Setup
Perform and assist with mold changes on injection molding presses ranging fromtons
Verify all mold connections during setup cooling water hot runner wiring hydraulic lines ejector connections and clamping
Confirm process parameters run first articles & obtain quality approval prior to full production release
Properly store and log molds after removal per tooling procedures
Auxiliary Equipment
Set up and operate thermolators / temperature controllers resin dryers granulators/grinders material loaders conveyors sprue pickers and any other press-side ancillary equipment
Ensure auxiliary equipment is running correctly and efficiently at all times during the shift
Mold Preventive Maintenance
Conduct minor mold PMs including visual inspection cleaning greasing of moving components (lifters sliders ejector pins) and identification of wear or damage
Document mold condition following each PM and communicate any issues to the Lead Process Technician
Participate in post-run mold inspections before tooling goes to storage
Quality & Safety
Inspect finished parts against quality specifications; flag any non-conforming product immediately and follow NCR procedures
Maintain a safe clean and organized work environment; adhere to all LOTO PPE and safety procedures at all times
Communicate equipment maintenance needs to the technical and maintenance teams proactively
Additional
Support new program launches mold qualification trials and material changeovers
Respond to production emergencies as required including occasional off-shift callouts
Operate lift trucks and fork trucks as required (certification required or must be obtainable)
Perform other duties as assigned in support of division production and quality goals
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED required
Technical / vocational training in plastics or manufacturing a plus
Experience
Process Technician level: 3 years in injection molding in a setup or process technician role
Mold Setter level: 12 years of hands-on mold setup experience with demonstrated technical aptitude and growth trajectory
Required Technical Skills
Proficiency with injection molding machine setup and process management on presses fromtons
Working knowledge of injection molding process parameters fill pack hold cooling and their effects on part quality
Hands-on experience troubleshooting common injection molding defects
Experience setting up and operating auxiliary equipment: thermolators dryers material loaders granulators conveyors
Ability to read and interpret process documentation job travelers and quality specifications
Forklift / lift truck certification (or ability to obtain)
Preferred / Bonus Skills
Experience with scientific / decoupled molding principles (RJG IQMS or similar)
Familiarity with Milacron injection molding equipment and control systems (Mosaic Cemac 486)
Basic mold maintenance skills disassembly cleaning inspection and minor repair
Experience with hot runner systems and controllers
ISO 9001 experience or documentation discipline in a quality-controlled manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements
Capable of lifting 50 lbs unassisted
Able to stand for extended periods on a manufacturing floor
Able to climb stairs crouch kneel and bend as required
Must be able to wear required PPE: steel-toed shoes safety glasses
