Job Summary

The Plant Engineering organization is responsible for technical activities relating to operations and maintenance of plant equipment during Construction Commissioning and Operations of the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP). Under direction of a Plant Engineering Manager the Plant Engineering Supervisor coordinates and directs the activities of plant engineers assigned to their group. The Plant Engineering Supervisor ensures that Plant Engineering organizational priorities are implemented and pursued and ensures that interactions with other Plant Engineering staff Operations Maintenance WTP Project groups subcontractors and equipment vendors are adequate to perform assigned job functions.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction control and supervision of WTCC

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Conduct work safely and in a manner that sustains the WTP Nuclear Safety Quality Culture.

  • Perform Management of Change (MOC) activities for the Chemical Safety Management Program (CSMP).

  • Direct project efforts for CSMP process steps for procedure design and other change documents where the changes are determined to be applicable to process chemical safety.

  • Ensure appropriate plant management plant engineering and safety review is performed to support changes applicable to CSMP reviews.

  • Develop procedures guides and forms for system safety/chemical safety efforts.

  • Perform assessment and line surveillance activities to verify CSMP processes and interfacing program processes in design and plant engineering are implemented as required.

  • Integrate change management for overall safety related project changes with nuclear engineering plant engineering and safety and health organizations.

  • Support overall performance of the Nuclear and Chemical Safety System Safety functional group.

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university.

Experience: 10 years of professional experience in the field of engineering operations or nuclear safety. 5 years of supervisory/lead experience in an Engineering group within the last 5 years required. This position is subject to DOE O426.2and the selected candidate must meet education and experience requirements in accordance with that order. 4 Years of Nuclear facility experience required. (Nuclear Experience when used in reference to Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities is experience acquired at any facility in which radioactive materials are routinely handled stored processed or utilized. A Bachelor of Science (BS) may be substituted for up to 3 years of nuclear experience.) Experience with national consensus codes and standards required.

Progression in grade is based upon complexity of assignments and sustained performance.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Supervise and lead a small group of Plant Engineers on multiple tasks

  • Provides technical expertise/guidance to engineering operations and maintenance regarding operability safety and process chemical safety.

  • Reviewdesign documents operating procedures and work planning documents and with focus on document changes to ensure identification of hazards and appropriate determination of hazard controls and safeguards is completed and prior to approving changes.

  • Lead and support development and updates to program documents and to associated training materials.

  • Support safety management program improvements and implementation.

  • Lead reviews of changes related to chemical safety impacts introduction of newprocess chemicals or significant changes to ensure that changes with impacts to hazards to workers public or the environment are provided to the appropriate approval authority.

  • Support implementation of 10 CFR 851 Worker Safety and Health and Process Safety Management 29 CFR 1910.119 requirements.

  • Support Worker Safety through Design reviews and document development.

  • Interface with the DOE-client to communicate status answer questions and provide factual accuracy checks.

  • Supportand facilitates process hazard analysis efforts.

  • Provide rotational on-call shift support for chemical safety hazard controls expertise needed whenprocesschemical hazards are present.

  • Assist groups in organizational goals and objectives within the assigned area of responsibility

  • Manage daily engineering activities with other Plant Engineering disciplines maintenance and operations

  • Support and facilitate positive and productive relationships with peers both within and external to Plant Engineering

  • Ensure the health and safety of self and staff by implementing the principles of ISMS

  • Ensure that personal conduct of work is consistent with nuclear safety and quality culture expectations

  • Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and direct the work of engineers assigned to the group

  • Ensure engineers assigned to the group obtain and maintain qualifications necessary to perform their tasks

  • Ensure engineers assigned to the group have sufficient resources to complete assignments

  • Monitor group and individual engineer performance and ensure appropriate communication to management is provided

  • Conduct employee performance and feedback reviews goal setting and other activities related to employee growth and development

  • Continually upgrade technical knowledge training capabilities and evaluation of assigned personnel.

  • Provide technical direction training and evaluation of assigned personnel

  • Establish and manage group schedules and budgets ensuring accurate status and timely communications are provided to management

  • Train and coach team members for skill development

  • Monitor work group for timely and accurate management procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM)Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work including writing computer workstation processes and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations oral reports planning meetings and other formal and informal contacts requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections testing and equipment operations which requires walking standing bending and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading transport and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

  • This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule M-Th 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentumvisa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)

Compensation Details:

$131484.26 - $211024.41
