Principal Engineer Mechanical

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC Power Project.
• Provide strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination.
• Manage Project Schedules and Budgets as well as provide weekly reports to communicate project status issues and needs.
• Prepare and maintain resource plans.
• Prepare equipment inquiry/RFQ packages.
• Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations.
• Review equipment vendor documents for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Develop job notes and technical scopes of work.
• Perform field walk downs to collect information required to complete work.
• Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals.
• Attend Client Vendor and Internal Team meetings.
• Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
• Independently evaluate select and apply standard engineering techniques procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel: both within the company and for the customer.
• Lead coordinate and review work of a small staff of engineers and designers.
• As a Licensed Professional Engineer seals and signs documentation produced by own work. May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
• Professional Engineers License
• 15 years of experience working in the Power Refining or Chemical Industries.
• Strong background in heat exchangers pumps ASME pressure vessels and ASME piping codes.
• Experience in the specification of Power Plant Equipment including CTGs STGs and HRSGs.
• Knowledge of EPC Project execution model.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for coordination with internal team members as well as Vendors and Clients.
• Willingness to learn and work on a variety of tasks within multiple industries.
• Willingness to travel and work in office and field environments.
• Strong desire for continuous improvement and career growth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience as a Mechanical Lead on an EPC Power Plant design project.

Salary/Pay Rate:

• In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act the expected salary range for this Illinois position Principal Engineer Mechanicalis between $165900.00 and $237473.60 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience geographic location and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
