Job SummaryThe Press Calibration Specialist is responsible for the inspection calibration maintenance support and performance optimization of mechanical hydraulic and servo stamping presses across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role ensures stamping equipment operates safely efficiently and within established calibration standards while supporting preventative maintenance initiatives troubleshooting major equipment failures and driving continuous improvement throughout stamping operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform annual calibration and inspection of all stamping presses and related equipment.
- Evaluate and document press conditions reporting findings to plant management and maintenance leadership.
- Identify and report equipment waste including air and oil leaks safety hazards and operational deficiencies.
- Ensure stamping presses are operating at optimal performance levels through accurate calibration and maintenance assessments.
- Recommend and implement improvements to increase equipment reliability efficiency and production quality.
- Support press monitoring initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime and minimize equipment failures.
- Audit preventative maintenance programs to ensure maintenance activities are completed thoroughly and on schedule.
- Provide technical support during major press breakdowns repairs and rebuild projects.
- Assist with planning and execution of complex press maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure all maintenance work meets company quality and safety standards while minimizing production interruptions.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel contractors and external service providers to support equipment reliability goals.
- Support the installation startup and evaluation of new stamping presses and peripheral equipment.
- Promote Industry 4.0 initiatives and advanced manufacturing technologies throughout stamping operations.
- Train and share technical knowledge with maintenance teams to improve troubleshooting and repair capabilities.
- Maintain accurate calibration inspection and maintenance documentation.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with stamping press maintenance and calibration.
- Strong experience with mechanical hydraulic and servo stamping presses.
- Experience with press peripherals including de-reelers straighteners feeders and related equipment.
- Understanding of calibration measurement standards and inspection protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic pneumatic mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to interpret maintenance and inspection reports.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for training and plant support.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift and crane certifications.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and predictive maintenance practices.
- Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and press monitoring systems.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities in a manufacturing environment.
- Manufacturing and industrial stamping environments.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical equipment hydraulic systems and industrial machinery.
- May require extended standing lifting climbing and travel between facilities.
