Preschool Paraprofessional
DESCRIPTION:
Paraprofessional supports students developmental needs based upon recommendations from the classroom teacher and interdisciplinary team. The Paraprofessional will provide students with individualized assistance in order to help them access their educational curriculum develop independence make progress with their goals and safely participate within the school setting.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school degree or higher
- Enjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all children
- Experience working in an urban district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- General support of a classroom or classrooms
- Provide academic support and carry over of the lessons the teacher and special education teacher has developed
- Provide all accommodations delineated within a students designated IEP/504 Implement modifications that have been developed by the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacher
- Develop materials based on specific instruction from the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacher
- Create opportunities and instructs students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school day
- Potentially assigned to multiple/different classroom grade levels
- Ability to implement behavioral/social support plans within the classroom to individual students or group of students (including but not limited to attending non-compliance completion of tasks following rules and classroom expectations)
- Provide small- or whole group assistance within the classroom
- Regular Education and Special Education students will be supported
- Engage individual and small groups of learners in instructional activities
- Share relevant information about learners with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem solving decision-making and program planning
- Support students to access a variety of technology
- Complete all required documentation related to incidents accidents discipline assault etc. Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instruction
- Facilitate positive relationships and engagements with peers
- Support students with organization of materials assignments and schedules Based on the student population and census in the buildings may be assigned different buildings Ensure that all accommodations outlined in the IEPs are implemented based on student needs Support students during their specials lunch and recess times
- Facilitate and support arrival and dismissal times
- Maintain student confidentiality
- May be required to support other students not initially assigned to as needed Carry out other tasks assigned by the Principal or designee.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The employee will be required to lift and/or move preschool aged children.
- The employee will be responsible for assisting preschool children with adaptive equipment. The employee will adhere to safety protocols.
- May assist medically fragile or physically disabled students for the purpose of maintaining students personal hygiene.
- May assist students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities with grooming feeding toileting diapering.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate.
- The employee is frequently required to stand walk sit use hands reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl climb run.
- The employee must be able to work in a noisy stressful high-pressure environment and still be able to concentrate and keep children safe.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured student fights behavior problems abusive students etc).
- May be exposed to bodily fluids including saliva urine feces vomit blood and/or other bodily fluids.
- The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness although in a clean environment.
WORKING TIME:
Hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
SALARY:
Salary for this position will be based on the Everett Teachers Association salary scale.
SY 26-27 Pay Range - $65178-$125654.
