PreK Educational Assistant

The Albuquerque Sign Language Academy is looking for an Educational Assistant for a 3 and 4 year old
classroom for a start-up early childhood program that will operate for the 2026-27 school year.

Qualifications and Skills
High School diploma or GED equivalent;
Pass criminal background check and fingerprint clearance;
Must be patient and nurturing;
Must be physically able to meet the needs of active small children;
Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills;
Must be coachable and willing to take instruction from lead teacher.

Desired Experience or Skills
All experiences in the field of working with young children valued formal and informal;
Working proficiency of American Sign Language or enthusiastic willingness to learn.

Responsibilities and Duties
Assist teacher in prepping materials;
Actively support inclusion of children of all abilities;
Communicate with teacher and follow the teachers guidance regarding all but not limited to
academic activities group work behavior supports and daily schedule;
Closely and actively monitor and engage with students at all times during the instructional day
including all structured and unstructured times;
Help children with daily hygiene routines including handwashing toileting meals and nap
time;
Keep classroom clean sanitized and organized throughout the day and end of day;
Interact with students and their families that build positive relationships;
Flexibility to adapt to varying student teacher and classroom needs.
